Effect of scattering anisotropy on the surface resistivity in aluminium
The residual electrical resistivity if foils has been measured on zone-refined aluminium and dilute aluminium-silver alloys with various thicknesses from 0.03 to 1.3 mm. The concentration of silver is 0.001 to 0.01 at.%. In contrast to previous experiments on the temperature dependence of surface resistivity, the surface resistivity affected by impurity scattering has a smaller value, and shows an excellent agreement with Fuchs-Sondheimer theory. From these facts, it is concluded that the anisotropy in bulk scattering enhances the surface resistivity.
