System parameter adjustment of FM-DCSK UWB for different medical environments
It is conventionally considered that the coverage or transmission distance is a limitation factor for the UltraWideband (UWB) technology applications, meanwhile the value that system parameters need or not configurations when UWB system is used is not clear. In this paper, by investigating parameter adjustment of frequency modulated differential chaos shift keying (FM-DCSK) UWB system, it is observed that there is an interesting problem that different system parameter adjustments may satisfied their application demands under different medical transmission environments. Concretely the system with integral time equaling to chip duration is a good choice for ordinary medical environment with different quality of service (QoS) requirements, where there is proper adjustment value of distance parameter with optimal bit error rate (BER) performance for per signal to noise rate (SNR); while the system integral time equaling to half of symbol period is more suitable for emergency medical environment with same QoS requirements, where a quick and robust communication system is needed to provided prompt information support to doctors and nurses. Given the above, it is obvious that the coverage is not a limitation factor when UWB technology is developed.
