Rwanda Water Distribution

This project aims to address the water needs of a small, agricultural community in rural Rwanda through collaboration between the local NGO, Fondazione Marcegaglia Onlus (FMO), and two university teams at Virginia Tech. The community of Rilima, Rwanda lacks access to clean water. Several handpumps have been implemented but failed due to mechanical issues. The government has attempted to provide access to clean water, but the water was too expensive for individual families. Since this attempt, the infrastructure (pipes, etc.) that the government implemented has been destroyed by other government construction.
