High-Speed Silicon Electro-Optic Modulator Based on a Single Multimode Waveguide
We report a novel silicon modulator that exploits the different modulation efficiency between two TE modes in a multimode waveguide. On-off key modulation was successfully demonstrated with an extinction ratio of 5.5 dB at 32 Gb/s.
