British Pentecostalism and public theology: Navigating the path between discipleship and citizenship

ABSTRACT This article maps out the nature of recent public theology among confessional British Pentecostals. It places these contributions within broader historical, social and religious contexts, identifying the themes of discipleship and citizenship as significant categories for conceptualizing the relationship between church and society. Pentecostals are no longer as sectarian as they once were, and there are signs of greater public engagement. Nevertheless, the move to systemic analysis is still underdeveloped and this area requires further attention at ecclesial and academic theological levels.
