A Phenomenological Analysis of Program Liaisons’ Perceptions of Initial CACREP Accreditation
ABSTRACT There has been an increase in the number of CACREP-accredited programs since the last standard revision cycle in 2009. However, little is known about what these programs and liaisons experienced prior, during, and after the accreditation process. This phenomenological study explored these facets through the perceptions of program liaisons. Identified themes include motivations, support, and hindrances of seeking accreditation, problem-solving strategies, impact of accreditation, and counselor identity. Recommendations for future research are provided.
