The novelty and the strategic importance of the project presented in this paper is the incremental integration within Sensornet platform of virtual sensors, based on hydrological simulation models and meteorological modelling, sharing the same data model initially defined for physical ones, thus making available not only the continuous monitoring of phenomena and their evolution, but also the generation of early warning in case of critical thresholds with a forecast up to 12/24 hours.
