Dongchoonghacho, a kind of silkworm mushroom produced from the entomopathogenic fungus of P. tenuipes, has been known as a mysterious ancient medicine in Asian countries, particularly in China, Korea, and Japan. This paper describes the molecular cloning of HSP88 cDNA from P. tenuipes Jocheon-1, the expression of cDNA, the deduced amino acid sequence of the protein, and the influence of the heat shock treatment on the corresponding mRNA expression levels.
