Failure Rate Basics for a Case Study on Grid Connected Photovoltaic Plant
This paper discusses the importance of failure rate basics for a grid connected photovoltaic systems. A photovoltaic plant is one of the most important aspects of the modern-day electric power grid. Thus, it is significant that the grid integrated PV system is a reliable system. However, the PV system experiences a huge transition due to varying mission profile, degrading PV modules, weak components in power electronics devices and other external conditions which effect the reliability of the system. Thus, the need to observe the failure basics for achieving cost minimization to increase profitability and improvement of the power grid to increase customer satisfaction are in the focus. Initially, a case study corresponding to the PV system installed in a particular location of India is carried out. Further, the topic of failure analysis and heterogeneity are introduced by identifying various faults in the PV system. In addition, the failure rate basics are reviewed to present the factors which are used within failure rate estimation modelling and to outline the existing methods which consider the individual components.
