The equations relate the Raman intensity to the diffuse reflectance <em>R</em><sub>∞</sub> of the sample for two cases: (i) for a series of samples having constant values of the scattering coefficient, <em>s</em>, but which vary in their values of the absorption coefficient, <em>k</em>; and (ii) for a series of samples having constant values of <em>k</em>, but differing in their values of <em>s</em>.
