Said-Bek Shamil… Hero or an Adventurer?

Саид Шамиль, внук легендарного имама Шамиля, стал известен во времена одного из самых сложных периодов в истории Кавказа. Несмотря на то, что информации о нем немного, его имя стало одним из самых обсуждаемых в истории эмиграции народов Северного Кавказа. Изучение личности, феномена Саида Шамиля всегда проводилось в рамках риторики героизма, и отвечающее научным требованиям изучение предмета было неосуществимо из-за отсутствия источников. В свете документов, найденных в архивных хранилищах Франции, Польши, России и США, данная работа имеет своей целью дать конкретную и основывающуюся на источниках статью об этой противоречивой личности в истории. Said Shamil, as the grandson of legendary Imam Shamil, emerged in one of the most critical periods in the history of the North Caucasus. Although there is very little information about him, he has become one of the most talked-about names in the history of North Caucasian immigration. The evaluations of Said Shamil have always been within the framework of the rhetoric of heroism, and a satisfactory scientific study could not be made due to the lack of resources and records. The article aims to convey more concrete and data-based information about this controversial personality in history in the light of documents found in French, Polish, Russian, and US archives.
