However, it would certainly be wrong to recommend ICS as a meaningful therapy for all COPD patients at this point in time, since therapy with ICS is associated with side effects, in particular an increase in the risk of developing pneumonia or osteoporosis. However, there is no doubt that patients with asthma COPD overlap require ICS therapy.
