Chi Sigma Iota Chapter Faculty Advisors’ Experiences of Professional Counselor Identity
ABSTRACT We explored Chi Sigma Iota (CSI) primary chapter faculty advisors’ (CFAs) understandings and experiences of professional counselor identity through the use of interpretative phenomenological analysis. Results suggest that CFAs experienced and understood their professional counselor identity through (a) meaningful interactions with students, (b) a sense of pride in their CFA role, and (c) a sense of cohesiveness the role provided. Implications for CFAs, CSI chapters, and the development of professional counseling identity are included.
