But, a unified mechanical model of pipe laying has not been established so far, deformation remains a frequent complication of sheath and insulation of high-voltage power cable due to traction accuracy that can not be guaranteed. Based on analysis of horizontal directional drilling characteristics, the mechanical model of pipe laying and the calculation formula of traction of cable were proposed and the determination method of model separation and classification was discussed, in which position computing of 3D date set by space vector theory was adopted. The feasibility and necessity of the model were verified by 110kV engineering example.
