Most studies to date have concentrated on particular regions or countries, and many have had to combine data from various authorities. In some cases, these may be traced back to original sources which are already obsolete and often of questionable value. A comprehensive estimate has been made here of biomass energy use compared with conventional energy resources for the year 1987.
