In linguistics, gender and sex are two different notions introducing many theoretical discussions. Their difference, origins, linguistic forms, disappearance or maintenance in some languages, are nourishing various theoretical reflections. This paper presents three of them : an analysis of the gender’s origin, a psychological point of view, and at last a functional examination of this linguistic point.
