La presencia de la AMEG en la semana de enfermedades digestivas 2016
In the edition 2016 of the Digestive Disease Week (DDW) in San Diego, California, exposure of national research by members of the Mexican Association of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (AMEG) in endoscopy could represent an important stimulus. In this work, the participation of members of the AMEG was evaluated through the papers presented both as a lecture and as poster. The aim of the study was to assess the number of papers presented at DDW 2016 that were made in national medical centers for AMEG members.
Material and methods
A prospective study. All papers presented at the 2016 edition of DDW through search in the official website DDWondemand (https://watch.ondemand.org/ddw) were evaluated. We included only studies done in our country in nationals medical centers and by AMEG's members.
Results
A total of 5,095 papers were presented, only 11 (0.2158%) were performed in our country. A total of 1,145 papers were presented in lecture format and only 2 (0.0174%) were made in Mexico. In the case of papers presented as poster, the total number was 3950 studies, 9 (0.227%)s were made by members of our association. In conclusion, the presence of the AMEG at DDW 2016 exposes an unfavorable reality. The AMEG should rethink its role in supporting and promoting research in national centers.
