The present work inquire into Domingo Faustino Sarmiento’s historical and biographical construction of his Recuerdos de provincia, appealing to the studies ricoeurianos concerning the narrative experience and the critical approaches on the biographical genre. At the same time, attending to the context of production, are examined the supposition assumed for knowledge letters in Latin America, as well as the contradictions and dilemmas that they show in his written forms.
