TOXIC PLANTS OF THE IGUAÇU MUNICIPAL PARK, PARANÁ, BRAZIL

Araucária, várzeas. a importância e fluxo de pessoas no local, como também a preocupação com os animais do zoológico, foi feito um levantamento de espécies vegetais tóxicas do PMI. Foram registradas 12 espécies pertencentes a dez famílias, que em sua composição apresentam algum tipo de toxicidade. As espécies são herbáceas, arbustos e árvores. ABSTRACT The Parque Municipal do Iguaçu - (PMI) is located in the southeastern region of Curitiba-PR, an urban area. In addition, the park protects part of the Iguaçu River valley, one of the main rivers in Paraná. The place also houses the Curitiba zoo and the Cantonment house, places with large flow of people, especially children and adolescents from schools in the region. The PMI vegetation is composed of Araucaria Forest, fields, and floodplains. Considering the importance and the large flow of people in the place, as well as the concern with the animals in the zoo, a survey of toxic plant species from PMI was carried out. Twelve species belonging to ten families were registered, which have some type of toxicity in their composition. The species are herbaceous, shrubs, and trees.
