KDD Cup 99 and 1998 DARPA dataset were employed for training and testing the intrusion detection rules. However, GA’s traditional Fitness Function was improved in order to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the algorithm in classifying network attacks from KDD Cup 99 and 1998 DARPA dataset. SOFM ANN and GA training parameters were discussed and implemented for performance evaluation.
