The relevance of the article due to the urgent need to develop a methodological framework in the field of regional finance research dictated by the substantial increase in the volume and composition of the socio-economic problems, the solution of which, including financial support, the responsibility of the public authorities of the Russian Federation. The article presents the results of the author's research in the field of institutional analysis of the stability of the regional financial system as a set of institutions and organizations interacting with the regional real sector of economy. Methodology. The methodological basis of this article are the economic and statistical methods of analysis, legal documents in the field of the sustainability of the regional financial system, publications in the field of economic and financial security. Conclusions / relevance. The practical significance of the work lies in the provisions of orientation, conclusions and recommendations aimed at the widespread use of search and adaptation of the institutional analysis of the sources of the regional stability of the financial system, which can be used by the legislative and executive authorities of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Defence in the current activity.
