"Questi fia del tuo sangue" (GL X): la profezia per Solimano: una sconfitta tra storia e destino

EnglishIsmeno’s prophecy to Solimano in the tenth canto of Jerusalem Delivered may be situated within the epic tradition of the vaticinations of the hero’s descendants. However, the fact that Solimano is the great antagonist of the crusaders makes the prophecy anomalous. Furthermore, the episode appears at the centre of a network of references and oppositions that alters substantially from the most remote phases of Jerusalem Delivered all the way to Jerusalem Conquered.
