Determining the thickness of paint-and-varnish coatings on metals by remote thermooptical probing
The processes that occur when laser pulses are used to heat a paint-and-varnish coating deposited on a metal base have been investigated by measuring the parameters of the thermal radiation induced by the heating. A theoretical explanation of the experimental results is given. A technique is proposed for determining the thickness of this coating by using the results of the investigations carried out here.
