The mediastinum is traditionally divided into three compartments: the anterior, middle, and posterior mediastinum. This division, based on lateral chest radiographs, helps clinicians establish appropriate differential diagnoses and plan further imaging, diagnostic, and treatment strategies. With the continued and complex advances in imaging, medical treatment, and surgery, we recommend a multidisciplinary approach to the management of mediastinal tumors.
