A modified form of the Hanfmann-Kasanin Test of concept formation was administered to four female speaking autistic children. A control group was selected for comparative purposes. It was established by a qualitative analysis according to Vygotsky's theory that the autistic group was uniformly inferior to the normal group in their capacity for concept formation.
