Using hyperspectral indices for investigation polluted plants and soil in Abu Zabaal area, Egypt
The present work is the first attempt to monitor the spectroscopic characteristics of polluted plants in Abu Zabaal area. Spectral signatures for plants in the study area have been measured by ASD spectroradiometer to assess the status of plants species. Various hyperspectral indices of Plant and soil were calculated to evaluate the samples representing the soil and studied plant species. The analysis showed that chlorophyll a and b content decreased in all plant species under pollution in comparison with control ones. There is a change in chlorophyll fluorescence under pollution conditions. The experimental results were matching with the hyperspectral indices, especially the red edge vegetation indices (RE, MRENDVI, and RE-NDVI). Based on linear regression analyses, an innovative model for assessing HCO3% was generated using SAVI retrieved from hyperspectral data, giving a promising accuracy (90%).
