This is an analysis of the implementation process of a tourism project in the Italian commune of Santo Stefano di Sessanio between 1999 and 2014. After a context of economic stagnation and demographic decline that emerged at the end of the 19 th century, the town experienced, since the beginning of the 21 st century, a set of tourist interventions seeking to evoke local historicity and thus operationalize specific elements of its cultural landscape.
