Kajian Pengelolaan Sampah Perkotaan pada Pulau Kecil Padat Penduduk di Pulau Lengkang, Kota Batam
: Marine debris is considered an important problem because it can have a direct impact on the environment and public health. Good waste management is needed in terms of handling coastal waste. One of the coasts in Indonesia border that is experiencing an increase in waste in the ocean is Lengkang Island. This study also aims to evaluate the need for waste management facilities based on waste generation and composition. This research method was carried out quantitatively and qualitatively, where the generation and composition of waste was measured by field observations. While qualitatively it is done by studying literature. The average amount of waste in the marine waters of Lengkang Island is 19.5±3.7 kg/m 2 . As much as 64% of the waste that is thrown into the sea is plastic waste, and the rest consists of paper/cardboard, rubber, and wood. Managed waste is usually illegally stockpiled and collected in temporary shelters (TPS) and then burned. These problems must be solved by planning from source, collection, and transportation, to processing at the final processing site (TPA).
