It was convened by Tsar Iwan IV, at the beginning of 1551 in Moscow, and it was signed up in history under the name The Stoglavy Synod. The name of the Council follows its decisions - a final document which contained one hundred chapters. This article is to present historical complexities which were in Russian Church in 16th century and which resulted in the need to convoke the Council.
