The mathematical model for the arc drive of the saw cutting unit was developed, based on the two-dimensional theory. The new technology to improve performance of LIM, driving circular saw, was proposed. According to this technology, thin copper plates are placed on the saw surface, causing a better power factor of such linear induction drive. The series of experiments were conducted. The achieved results show a good match with theoretical calculations, confirming the developed mathematical model.
