The overlapping rebars pass through the web openings of steel beam, thus enhancing the interaction between the RC slab and steel beam. As a pilot study of the proposed floor system, the bending behavior of the new composite slim beam was investigated experimentally on four specimens. The full interaction between the RC slab and steel beam is demonstrated by the test and finite element analysis results. In addition, a calculation method for bending capacity is proposed.
