Besides Hall’s and Foucault’s theories, this article draws upon the works of some other theorists such as Homi Bhabha, Louis Althusser, and Antonio Gramsci. The study explains how the primary role of power produces a certain discourse that normalizes the individual. The International Journal of Arabic-English Studies (IJAES) is the forum of debate and research for the Association of Professors of English and Translation at Arab Universities (APETAU). However, contributions from scholars involved in language, literature and translation across language communities are invited.
