One of the important conditions is that the assessment is carried out in accordance with the wishes, needs and requirements of society and the state. The article discusses the essence of modern assessment, the analysis of in-school assessment (diagnostic, formative, summative) in terms of geography, the expediency of applying the level of knowledge and skills of students in accordance with the assessment standards. In-school assessment consisted of assessment of student achievement (diagnostic, formative and summative assessments), curriculum assessment and final assessment of general education levels.
