The treatment of the three lexical units were observed and analysed in academic lexicography (RAE [Royal Spanish Academy] and ASALE [Association of Spanish Language Academies]) and regional lexicography (Academia Canaria de la Lengua [Canarian Academy of the Language]) in order to establish a starting point for comparison the results of an analysis of the frequency of use of these volcanological terms in the Canarian press between October and December 2021, the period of activity of the Cumbre Vieja volcano (La Palma). The most frequent terms used by the media were the lexical units delta lávico and fajana.
