This process has become increasingly popular as awareness of environmental issues has grown. This study aimed to characterize and evaluate the amount of carbon that was present in the sample. The physicochemical characteristics of biochars produced from sesbania stems that were pyrolyzed at a temperature of 400 degrees Celsius for a period of 0.5, 1, 1.5, and 2 hours. The characterizations of biochar produced from sesbania are done by Energy dispersive spectrometer and Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy. It was found that as the pyrolysis residence time grew, the yield of biochar and the functional groups decreased, however, the amount of fixed carbon content increased, and all these effects contribute to the volatile matters that are present in the material.
