Fra bruker til kollega – døve som mottakere og ytere av tolketjenester

The dialectical relationship between professional education, the profession and the market is the topic here. Professional deaf interpreters (DIs) are entering the market. This challenges the interpreter profession and the interpreting services, which so far have consisted of hearing interpreters, and where deaf individuals are defined as users of the interpreting services. Our explorative study shows that more information is needed about how DIs can enter and constitute a resource for the market. At the same time, hearing interpreters see opportunities for their own professional development in collaboration with DIs, who have sign language as their first language. å tolketjenestene.
