This refers above all to the offering of themselves with Christ. This can made clear by a division of the Eucharistic celebration into three parts: Liturgy of the Word, Liturgy of Sacrifice, Liturgy of Communion. An anthropological view of the Mass suggests a parallel with marriage and family: engagement, sacramental marriage, unity of marriage and family. Both the Eucharist and the family are grounded in the Triune life of God: The Father emanates the Word from eternity. Responding to the eternal love of the Father, the Son becomes an atoning sacrifice for fallen creation.
