The aim of the article is to present and compare family experiences of settled and temporary migrants at different stages of the family lifecycle (FLC). Families are examined from the point of establishing coupledom, through having and raising children, to the final stages of their existence. By drawing on a vast qualitative dataset compiled from three research projects, it is possible to apply the FLC lens to migrant families in the Polish context. The article discusses the situation of two different types of nuclear families, namely Poles who raise their children abroad and families who experience temporary/ seasonal migration of one parent/partner. The analysis accounts for the temporal dimension (subsequent phases of the FLC) and applies a gendered lens (the experiences of female vs male migrants).
