This paper shows how a the appropriate combination of centralized and decentralized approaches achieves a better planning and increase of throughput. With a flexible cycle control of the worksta- tions and suitable assistance at the assembly workstation, the previous workshop-oriented organization is trans- formed to a series-like production.
