It was observed an increase of alpha 1-antitrypsin in the blood of patients with prostatic carcinoma and benign prostatic hyperplasia after the operation. In the blood patients of control group an increase of alpha 1-antitrypsin was observed too. The activity of alpha 1-antitrypsin in prostatic carcinoma was the highest during the whole observation period. The similar increase of the activity of alpha 1-antitrypsin after the operation in the blood of all groups of patients is connected with inflammatory reaction. The activity of alpha 1-antitrypsin in the blood of the patients with prostatic carcinoma and benign prostatic hyperplasia before and after the operation was examined.
