No significant differences in plasma IGF-I concentrations were demonstrated among the three groups of animals. However, a linear negative correlation existed between the number of circulating mononuclear cells and the number of IGF-I binding sites on these cells from control cows. In addition, mononuclear cells from PL cows had fewer IGF-I binding sites per cell when compared with control cows.
