The 5-year-survival-rate was 34%, with a combined therapy of surgery and irradiation it was 43.6%. For 44 patients with a sarcoma of the tonsillar fossa the 5-year-survival was 32%. For the patients with a carcinoma chemotherapy was only given for palliation.
