Selective Emission of Heated Water in the Terahertz Spectral Range
The intrinsic emission spectra of a 50-µm-thick water layer in the range of 0.2–7 THz at temperatures from 30 to 90°C have been recorded. An excess of emission intensity above Planck’s limit is found in the range of 0.3–0.5 THz at temperatures of 60°C and higher. The value of this excess increases with increasing the heated liquid temperature. Attention is paid to the correlation between the occurrence of the revealed selective nonequilibrium emission with the formation of air bubbles in the liquid.
