Polysomnographic recordings showed periodic breathing and central apnoeas associated with abnormal oscillations of systemic arterial pressure and heart rate during all sleep stages. Oxygen administration during sleep reduced hypoxia, while the periodic breathing and arterial pressure oscillations persisted.
