Research on the impact of data-driven dynamic capabilities on the sustainable development performance of chinese manufacturing enterprises
In the context of high-quality development, digital transformation has become vital for Chinese manufacturing enterprises. This study examines how data-driven dynamic capabilities (DDDC)—comprising data sensing, data capturing, and digital transformation—affect firms’ sustainable development performance. Using panel data from 20,357 listed Chinese manufacturers (2012–2022), this paper employs regression, mediation, and heterogeneity analyses. Results show that all three DDDC dimensions significantly improve sustainable performance, primarily through enhanced innovation capability. The effects are especially pronounced in non-state-owned and technology-intensive firms. Theoretically, the study advances dynamic capabilities theory by uncovering the micro-mechanisms through which data drives innovation and competitiveness. Practically, it provides guidance for integrating data-centric strategies into digital transformation to foster sustainable growth.
