The coordination environment around the zinc(II) ion in the title complex can be described as a distorted tetra-hedron formed by the two N atoms of the NAD<sup>+</sup>/NADH model ligand pn [pn = 2-(pyridin-2-yl)[1,5]naphthyridine] and two Cl<sup>-</sup> ions.
