When bathophenanthroline (bphen) and 2,9-dimethylbathophenanthroline (mbphen) are used as <i>N</i>-donor ligands, the crystallization temperature does not affect the compositions and structures of the compounds formed, and therefore, [Eu<sub>2</sub>Cd<sub>2</sub>(bphen)<sub>2</sub> (pfb)<sub>10</sub>]<sub><i>n</i></sub>·2<i>n</i>MeCN (<b>4</b>) and [Eu<sub>2</sub>Cd<sub>2</sub>(mbphen)<sub>2</sub>(pfb)<sub>10</sub>]·H<sub>2</sub>O (<b>5</b>) complexes are formed. The synthesized compounds are characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, and the CHN analysis. The structures and crystal packings of the obtained complexes are examined in detail.
