The anionic unit of these complexes consists of [Fe(btdt)<sub>2</sub>]<sup>–</sup> moieties dimerized in <span>\\([\\text{Fe}{{(\\text{btdt})}_{2}}]_{2}^{2-}\\)</span> bridged through coordination of one sulfur atom of each of the (btdt)<sup>2–</sup>ligands. Finally, in <span>\\([\\text{Fe}{{(\\text{btdt})}_{2}}]_{2}^{2-}\\)</span>, the iron atoms are in a square pyramidal environment of sulfur atoms.
