Supply chain enterprises are increasingly prioritizing green supply chain (GSC) emission reduction technologies to expedite the achievement of carbon neutrality, thus promoting the implementation of blockchain technology in this area. However, whether the use of blockchain SCs by GSC enterprises effectively improves emission reduction efficiency remains uncertain. Using data from publicly listed companies spanning 2010 to 2023, this study empirically investigates the effects of blockchain SCs on the operational efficiency of emission reduction technologies in GSCs. The findings indicate that the adoption of blockchain SCs significantly enhances the operational efficiency of GSC emission reduction technologies, with large-scale enterprises exhibiting more pronounced efficiency improvements compared to small-scale enterprises. Further analysis reveals that the average education level of corporate executives positively moderates the effect of blockchain SCs on operational efficiency.
