This study investigates various reproductive aspects of <em>S. fuscescens</em>, including gonad maturation, sex ratio, spawning season, fecundity, and potential influence of lunar cycle and selected environmental factors on spawning. A comprehensive sampling effort collected 1432 individuals of <em>S. fuscescens</em> from May 2022 to April 2023, with sampling conducted per lunar phase. The total length (TL) and weight of <em>S. fuscescens</em> ranged from 8.8 to 26.8 cm TL (Mean:17.33 cm ±0.08) and 8.1 g to 237.5 g (Mean:72.81 g ± 1.01), respectively. Although there are more females (n = 735) than males (n = 697), the overall sex ratio of 1.05:1 did not significantly deviate from 1:1. Males reached the length at first maturity (<em>L</em><sub><em>m50</em></sub>) at a lower size compared to females, with a length at first maturity (<em>L</em><sub><em>m50</em></sub>) estimated at 17.54 cm for males and 20.24 cm in females. The absolute fecundity displayed a wide range, from 48,772 to 843,511 eggs, with a mean of 271,327 ± 48,373 eggs. Relative fecundity varied from 44 to 1255 eggs per gram of body weight, averaging 275 eggs/g. A significant correlation was observed between absolute fecundity and ovary weight. Based on the Gonadosomatic Index (GSI), two spawning periods were observed - from May to July 2022 and another from February to April 2023. Within these periods, the highest spawning activity occurred in July 2022 and March 2023, respectively. GSI was highest during the new moon, followed by the first quarter. Among the environmental factors examined, chlorophyll <em>a</em> concentration and precipitation may have significant influence on the spawning of <em>S. fucescens</em>.
